Why is my authenticator code not working?

Here is a list of common reasons why your code may not work and possible solutions:

  • Incorrect code

    Make sure the code you entered is the correct code (6 digits) and then try submitting it again.

  • Timeout

    Authenticator codes are time-based. You have 30 seconds to enter the code before it expires and is no longer valid. Verify that the most recent code entered is visible in the authenticator app. If the code is about to expire, wait for the next available code and make sure there is enough time to enter the new code.

  • Mixing up accounts

    If you have multiple accounts set up on the authenticator app, verify that the code you are entering is for your MyCarMax account.

  • Time sync issues

    Authenticator codes can stop working if the app is syncing time incorrectly. To correct the time, sync the app time settings and/or reset your device's time setting. For additional details, see the support information for your specific authenticator app and/or your device's user guide.
